Fraud Warning Print E-mail

Warning LogoPlease read this information reagardingĀ a scam using the DSB's nameĀ that has been targeting the community.

Dear Friends,

It has come to the attention of the DSB that a scam using the DSB's name as well as me personally has been targeting the community. People from all over the country, not just Florida, have forwarded emails to me regarding a variety of scams being attempted. Please, I am going to ask you to double check everything you do. Please see the following list, although I cannot cover them all, I am going to touch on some that are very important

Obviously, if you do not know the person never give out any information about yourself.

If it is someone you think you know talk to them personally first. Call me or call the organization and ask to speak to that person. Do not respond to the email or IM. Do not use the phone number they provide, instead go online to yellowpages.com and look them up.

If the bank that you have an account with says there is a problem with your account and ask you to log on to the site to fix it.... DON'T. Someone very close to me did that and lost hundreds of dollars in a matter of 24 hours. IF there was a problem they would NEVER email you. It is unlikely that your bank would have your email address or try to contact you that way. Instead, call your bank and ask if there is a problem and again use a phone book or walk in to the branch and ask. Do not ever use the info from the email or IM.

Yes all of us get those emails from around the world with sad stories. Just HIT DELETE.

These are scams no matter how good they sound there is no such thing as an easy buck.

Please protect yourself from people who want nothing more than to make your lives miserable and themselves happy.

As always contact the DSB staff if you have any concerns.

Thank you,
